Cedar Birdhouse

Cedar is a strong wood that is commonly used to make boxes, chairs, benches; anything needing to be strong and durable. Cedar wood comes from four different cedar types of cedar trees that are located throughout the world. Some cedar is very light, while some is dark, and there are some species that even appear red. Regardless of the color of the wood cedar is typically one of the strongest woods available and is used for an array of residential items. Cedar birdhouses will be able to with stand all weather conditions, and it will be durable and long lasting.

Often times a cedar birdhouse will remain unpainted because the wood itself is so beautiful. Often times cedar wood contains unique knots or markings that make the wood beautiful; each cedar birdhouse is truly one of a kind. Additionally wood can be stained; making it appear natural and rustic but giving it a more intense color then natural wood. However, some people still choose to paint their birdhouses decoratively to match their other yard décor. There are special paints that are designed to use on wood, so it doesn’t chip or scratch off. Over time, though, paint will wear off and the birdhouse will need to be repainted.
